Emergent Research (IRC) definition from Glossary
At the IRC, emergent research is aimed at improving the effectiveness of programs in crisis-affected contexts. Emergent research projects include topics that are not part of the organizational research priorities (see definition) but are deemed to have high potential impact and influence, and in areas where IRC has a niche, especially in particular countries or regions. Emergent research projects:
Receive targeted support
May be focused on a single country, region, or context
Addresses critical questions that emerge (e.g., during an acute crisis) and/or align with country and TU priorities
